SLEEP

‘sleep’ (2015) is a performative one-on-one installation. Wearing a sheep mask, I tried to fall asleep in the presence of a stranger/spectator. I was experimenting with notions of passivity by leaving it to the spectator to get involved (or not) and provoking unsolicited intimacy to deal with. Another wish was to explore questions of subjection and subjectivity and the ‘performability’ of something so fragile, genuine and intimate as sleep.

performed at 100° Festival Berlin (HAU 1, Sophiensaele), 26. & 27. February 2015
